Tables

Most websites use tables as a way of creating the layout of a page. The flexibility of being able to divide the page into many different celled regions in which to place content and images makes tables the ideal way for creating unique pages for your website.

Follow these steps to create a table:

  1. To create a table while in edit mode click on the page where you want to insert the table and click the Table Manager link in the menu. Use the table wizard or specify the numbers of columns and rows your table requires. Once selected a table will be inserted on the page.

  2. To further specify the tables properties once inserted into your page select the table, right click and choose Set Table Properties from the menu. The Table Properties window opens.

  3. The Table Properties Window lets you set a range of features for the table including colour, alignment, height and width (in pixels (px) or % of screen)

  4. Once table properties have been set you can also set properties at the cell level within the table. To set a cells properties click in the cell then right click to access the Set Cell properties link. You will notice that there are also further options available on this menu.

  5. Using the Cell Properties window you can set a number of properties including cell colour, alignment, height and width.

Special Note:

A few things to consider when using tables

  • You can paste tables into cells to further define a layout or group certain page elements together to move them more easily.
  • A quick way to set multiple page layouts is by creating a page layout once and then copying it to all the pages in your site.
  • Consider the viewing size of your page. It is good practice to develop a layout that will accommodate multiple screen sizes by setting % widths for your table.
